The Space Wolf codex was amended this week to remove the combination of Counter-attack and Furious Charge being legal. The FAQ read in a way that suggested this: if you passed your counter-attack test, you would activate furious charge. This didn't just apply to Space Wolves, it applied to the Universal Special Rule.

So thanks to this ruling, 'Iron Hand' Straken could create a 12" circle of destruction, all his troops being S4 I4 and +1 A, combined with a Commissar or Yarrick to make everyone leadership 10. Penal Legion  became ridiculous, 66% chance of making a close combat monster squad. If you rolled a 3 to 6 you could get scout, stubborn, counter-attack, furious charge and then fleet or rending with +1 attack.

Furthermore, if you added a priest or Yarrick with their Righteous Fury rule which reads like Furious Charge, you get to re-roll to hit for that squad if you pass your counter-attack test. Throw a chainfist from the priest in there and his 4+ invulnerable save and, well, you get the picture. Ouch

So with the amendment, Straken is just regular cheese now, as opposed to the entire IG codex being game breaking. But what a fun week! Wink

Yeah? I thought it was generally accepted that furious charge doesnt stack with counter attack? Oh well, IG are still broken so nevermind.

Yeah, well this whole saga was actually started by the space pups, Phil Kelly decided it was okay to rule that it did stack during their FAQ, and because he clarified a USR it applied to every codex. If you thought IG was bad, imagine what the Space wolves were like! Blood claws being charged and getting +3 attacks in return! Ragnar Blackmane's Insane Bravado! I don't know every codex in and out but yeah...

The ruling was deleted 2 weeks later and no longer can be found on the website, so it's back to normal, they can no longer stack. Wink
